Technological lines consisting of reliable machines are the basis for aerosol production. Proven machines, manufactured with the top of the line craftsmanship and the highest precision, not only increase the efficiency of the entire production, but also reduce the number of operators required. Solmatic’s goal is to build machines that make our customers' production processes faster, more efficient and more effective.

One of the elements of equipment that make up the aerosol production line are placers. These machines are among the last in the basic production cycle and among the first in the cycle of packaging and final product preparation. Their role is to automate the work that workers do - placing heads, caps or flat-caps on aerosol cans. Automation of these tedious tasks not only relieves workers who can focus on other elements of the process, but also ensures its repeatability, which translates into greater efficiency, productivity and, consequently, generates lower costs and increased profits.

Solmatic placers range

Although automation is a mainstay of many businesses, some plants still carry out placement manually, involving their own employees in this activity. Why is this? Many entrepreneurs are reluctant to purchase a suitable machine because of the high cost of format sets for the parts to be placed and the frequent and time-consuming set-up required by the multitude of sizes and shapes of heads and caps.

We design our placers in such a way that each format set is as universal as possible and can handle as many parts of different shapes as possible. For many years, one of our main criteria when building our machines has been to minimise set-up times. In the case of placers, experienced operators are able to carry out this process within 5 minutes! We offer our customers several types of placers: spray-head placers, cap placers as well as flat-cap placers.

OGL-72 Spray-head placer

The OGL-72 is an indexing device operating at up to 50 pieces per minute, synchronized with a vibrating spray head sorter. The placer can be right or left, depending on the side from which the containers enter the machine. The machine is equipped with a system for guiding cans and guiding spray heads, consisting of starwheels and guiding rings. The head is placed on an operating slot equipped with a single air actuator with a pusher.

An additional system of sensors ensures smooth operation of the device, the right sequence of cans on entry, the sufficient supply of spray-heads, and also prevents cans from blocking the exit. The device may also be used for mounting and tapping adaptor crosses on cans with polyurethane foam.

OC-74 Cap placer

The OC-74 is an indexing device with a speed of up to 50 pieces per minute designed for automatic cap placing on pre-filled and crimped aerosol cans. The cap placer is synchronized with a cap sorter and a conveyor between the two - it can be right or left, depending on the side from which the cans enter the machine. The unit is equipped with a can guiding and cap guiding system consisting of starwheels and guiding rings. The caps are deposited on an operating slot equipped with a single air actuator with a pusher.

An additional system of sensors ensures smooth operation of the device, the right sequence of cans on entry, the sufficient supply of caps, and also prevents cans from blocking the exit.

CZE-01 Rotary cap placer

The CZE-01 is a device operating in a rotary manner at a speed of up to 120 pieces per minute, designed for automatic cap placing on pre-filled product and crimped aerosol cans. The cap placer is synchronized with a cap sorter and a conveyor between the two. The cap placer may be right or left, depending on the side from which the containers enter the machine. The unit is equipped with a can and cap guiding system consisting of starwheels, guiding rings and a set of 6 or 8 pushers which place the caps on the cans.

The cap placing takes place as the cans move through the machine, which allows for a much higher number of caps to be placed compared to indexing solutions adapted to production lines with a capacity of up to 50 units per minute. An additional system of sensors ensures smooth operation of the device, the right sequence of cans on entry, the sufficient supply of caps, and also prevents cans from blocking the exit.

OPP-203 Pick & place cap placer

The Pick & place is an indexing device operating at speeds of up to 50 pieces per minute, designed and built on special order for one of our customers in Scandinavia. The OPP-203 addresses the problem of out-of-shape caps. Caps become deformed as a result of being packed too quickly after being removed from the injection moulding machine. Such deformed caps may cause jamming of conventional indexing or rotary cap placers.

The OPP-203 Pick & place placer, instead of pushers on air actuators, is equipped with a rotating arm with forming grippers, which take the caps from the access slot, into which they are conveyed from the sorter. The gripper then rotates the cap by 180 degrees and places it on the aerosol can. The gripper design means that even deformed caps are restored to form and can be successfully placed.

KAP-202 Rotary flat-cap placer

The KAP-202 is a device operating in a rotary manner at a speed of up to 120 pieces per minute, designed for automatic cap placement on pre-filled product and crimped aerosol cans. The device is used in particular in plants using a special threaded aerosol valve which requires the use of safety caps, e.g. camping gas production facilities. The rotary flat-cap placer cooperates with the vibrating cap sorter - it may be right or left handed depending on the side from which the containers enter the device. The device is equipped with a can and cap guiding system consisting of a starwheel, a guiding ring, and a capping arc press.

The caps are placed as the cans move through the machine, which allows for a much higher number of placed caps in comparison with indexing solutions adapted for production lines with a capacity of up to 50 pieces per minute. An additional system of sensors ensures smooth operation of the device, the right sequence of cans on entry, the sufficient supply of flat-caps, and also prevents cans from blocking the exit.
