Solmatic’s semi-automatic BOV stations are complete workstations designed for Bag-On-Valve production, combining pre-gassing, valve crimping, and precise product filling. They are used in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food industries – both in testing environments and in laboratories or R&D departments.

Depending on the configuration, stations may include two or more modules – such as a pre-gassing and crimping unit, a filling module, and a head for final pressure control. We offer both compact solutions on a shared frame (e.g. PT-5253 BOV) and mobile setups with separate stands (e.g. BOV Laboratory Station). The machines are compatible with standard aerosol cans as well as PET containers.

All-in-One Laboratory Aerosol & BOV

The All-in-One Laboratory is an advanced semi-automatic research and production station designed to support all key technologies used in the aerosol industry – both classic and Bag-On-Valve (BOV). It is a compact and versatile solution for product testing, process validation, pilot-scale production, and the development of new formulations.

The device enables complete filling and closing of containers using various technologies and configurations. The set includes:

  • liquid product filling head,
  • crimping head for standard and BOV valves (with an optional external crimping head for PET),
  • BOV product filling head with the option to integrate a mixer for gel products (e.g., shaving foams),
  • propellant gas filling head installed in a closed safety box with a ventilation system.

All heads are equipped with the No Can No Work system, which prevents the machine from starting a cycle without a properly positioned container – effectively avoiding leaks and improving workplace safety.

PT-5253 BOV Semi-Automatic Crimper & Filler

The PT-5253 BOV is an integrated semi-automatic machine designed for Bag-On-Valve (BOV) production. It combines pre-gassing and crimping functions with precision product filling. Both modules – the pre-gassing/crimping unit and the filling unit – are mounted on a shared frame in a compact and secure housing, which improves ergonomics and minimizes the required workspace.

The machine enables efficient and repeatable execution of two key BOV process steps: injecting a controlled amount of air or gas into the container (pre-gassing), then securely crimping the valve and filling the bag with product of specific physical and chemical properties. The total output reaches up to 20 containers per minute, depending on product viscosity, container size, valve flow rate, and operator experience.

The pre-gassing pressure is set directly via the Siemens LOGO! control panel. The integrated PresSure™ system monitors the entire process – the pre-gassing head only completes the cycle once the target pressure is reached. Real-time pressure is displayed on the control screen.

The dosing range is 0 to 420 ml per cycle and is adjusted manually – settings can be checked at any time on a convenient indicator.

The cycle is initiated via foot pedal or two-hand control buttons. Crimping parameters and filling volume can be easily adapted to product and valve requirements. After each cycle, the heads return to their initial position automatically. The machine works with a wide range of BOV valves and products of various viscosities, including those used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food production.

To ensure proper operation and repeatable process quality, we recommend equipping the station with a crimping parameter measurement kit.

BOV Laboratory Station

The BOV Laboratory Station is a complete mobile unit designed for testing and small-scale Bag-On-Valve operations. It integrates three key functions in one ergonomic structure: pre-gassing and crimping of BOV valves, precise filling of the product into the bag, and final pressure control after filling.

The station consists of two independent modules mounted on a shared frame with an integrated worktable. One stand is equipped with the pre-gassing and crimping unit, the other with the product filling unit. A final pressure checking head is also included, allowing real-time verification of container integrity and filling quality. The system is mounted on wheels, providing full mobility and optimal usability in laboratory and R&D environments.

The pre-gassing module injects a controlled amount of air or gas into the container. Once the target pressure is reached, the valve is crimped. The pressure is set via the Siemens LOGO! control panel, and the integrated PresSure™ system ensures that the cycle finishes only after the required pressure has been achieved.

The filling unit features manual volume adjustment (0–420 ml per cycle) with a visual indicator. Filling is triggered automatically when the container is positioned correctly—no buttons required.

The pressure checking head allows post-filling verification of internal pressure, helping to detect leaks or filling errors.
